Here is a complete list by Bhumi M, who is a lifestyle YouTuber.Bhumi is the sort of person who loves organizing stuff that one deals with on daily basis, is passionate about home decoration, has a love for gardening along with cooking, and believes in the power of Yoga. One can really learn a thing or two about the home organization from her and can enhance their own personalities.
Talking about Navratri, Bhumi too seems like a big devotee of Devi Maa and looked super excited for the festival.
While addressing her viewers Bumi said it is always good to be prepared in advance, hence she got the majority of the products. She said that due to Covid, it’s neither feasible nor safe to go to market, especially just before the festival and she prefers one-time shopping only.

She stated that Navratri is of many kinds i.e Gupt and Prakat Navratris. She said that she will be giving detailed information about all the things one must be needing for the Prakat Navratri and some of the must-haves are a photo/statue of Devi Maa, over which a chunri (veil) can be decorated along with vastra (clothes). One first needs to stapit (establish) the statue and then can offer a veil and vastra to it. And here is the list of other required things.
Wooden Stool (Chowki)
The first thing that is required for commencing the Navratri is establishing the Devi Maa’s Murti (statue), and that requires a wooden stool for it. The specific stools for this are known as chowki but in case you won’t be able to find any alike one, you can go for any ordinary wooden stool.
Chunri (Veil) and Lengha (a clothing item) – Mata Rani Chunri/Patka and Lehenga Poshak
Bhumi looked super excited when introducing this segment of the video. She told that she purchases the chunri in advance and now she has a pretty collection of chunries that she showed to the camera. And they were really pretty! Some were golden, some had a net, and some were beautiful Jaipuri work. She mentioned that she uses the used before chunries for decoration. Later she showed the lehnga of Mata Rani that was in red color.

The very next thing shown by Bhumi was a photo cover made clothes, which she mentioned that she got for a photo of Lord Shiva but it was not fitting well. She said that she will be getting another size and one can easily get them from the nearby pooja shops.
Dwaja (Flag)
Another thing on the list was Dwaja, which is required for seven Gods and Mata Rani. “Jai Mata Di” was written on the flag and it had a triangular shape, with you can establish with a stick.
Cloth to Cover Chowki
Bhumi mentioned that one can get a cloth of 0.25 meters for chowki or you can either get ready-made clothes with laces in the shops. You can also get such clothes in different sizes for different statues.
Shringar (Makeup)
Now comes the most fun part! Bhumi said that one has to give shola shringar to Mata Rani that are easily available in 51, 101, or 201 rs., that one can purchase as per their convinces. If talking about Bhumi, she gets the shringar on her own. She also showed the saree she got for Mata Rani along with shringra, she said that after Navratri she donates the clothes and makeup in the temple that later can be used by Panditayan (wife of the priest).
Flower Basket
The next item on the list was the brass bucket that Bhumi got from Amazon. She said that this bucket comes in very handy with keeping flowers and garlands. She said that she has been looking for it for a long and finally got it on Amazon.
Panch Deepak Aarti
Bhumi said that one can’t offer aarti to Devi Maa with the Deepka (earthen lamp) lighting on the premises hence one needs a different setup for that. Earlier she used to offer aarti with Kapoor but now she has got the panch Deepak aarti for the aarti ritual.
Copper Havan Kund
According to Bhumi a havan kund is a must in the house. Especially during Navratri, a Havan kund comes very handly with offering prayers.
Jars
The next thing on the list is jars for panch meva and mishri (the prahad offering to Devi Maa) along with Dakshina (money that one offers to Devi Maa daily for nine days). She said that one can keep collecting money in a jar and can later donate it in the temple.
Akhand Diya Jyoti for Pooja – Brass akhand Diya (akhand Deepak)
Akhand diya (the lamp that keeps lighting for nine days continuously) is the major attraction for Navratri, and one needs a proper diya for that. Initially, Bhumi had an open diya that used to scare her from getting extinguished and also it was quite small in the size. Later she got the one with a glass cover but then she realises that it gets hot when after some time and it becomes difficult to operate it smoothly. The new one she recently got was the one that comes with a lead that is easy to handle however, she needed a bigger size of the diya yet the one she got was perfect for the Navratri rituals.
Sesame Oil
The very next thing on the list was sesame oil, which is used specifically for pooja.
Desi Ghee
Bhumi said that her pooja rituals are incomplete without cow’s desi ghee. And she usually gets a separate container for her small temple at home.
Kalash
The next thing on the list is Kalash. That Bhumi used to use in mud forms as well but recently she got the one in brass. She later shared that the earlier one she got is now used for the bath of Laddu Gopal hence she got the new one. Late she shared the ritual of estabhlishing the Kalsah, which goes like putting Haldi piece, supari, akshat chawal, Dakshina, and gangajal in the bottom along with paan kay pattay and coconut on the top.
Samagri
In samagri one needs to get kapoor, Roli, Chandan, supari, Choti elaichi, laung, batasay, agarbatti, and havan samagri. She said that you can mix kaalay til, jaw and sugar in the havan samagri too as it is said that havan goes directly to God.
Mud Planter
Planting jaw is one of the attractions of Navratri and for that one needs a mud planter. For the best results, you can leave the jaws in the water a night before planting them.
Kesh
The next thing you need is kesh (hair), which you can get for Mata Rani for completing her Srinagar.
Bhumi culminated the video by saying that Navratri is all about the festival of faith and one keeps in a positive state of mind during the festival. She later said that by performing these rituals you will feel as if you are not alone and that will fill you with a different kind of confidence.
